Animal ID in the capital of EU - Brussels

Our organization took part in the international conference "The illegal online puppy trade: towards a safer EU for animals and people online".

Veterinary associations representatives from different  European countries, heads of the largest databases of identified animals, international cynological clubs, NGO`s and many other experts working in the field of animal welfare were among the participants of the event.

We discussed the problem of illegal online animal trade and came up with possible solutions:
- the key role of identification and registration of animals
- the need of uniting data at the international level
- the provision of animal control instruments while crossing the borders
- the laws that will ensure the implementation of these instruments worldwide

Unfortunately illegal online animal trade is a problem of a huge scale:
- Each year hundreds of thousands of illegally sold puppies that come to Europe die on the road.
- Pets are mainly transferred from Eastern European countries.
- eBay is considered to be one of the main online platforms for selling puppies.
- The profit from illegal online puppy trade is over 1 billion euros a year.

Animal ID, an international animal database has implemented Blockchain innovative technology. We hope this technology will help stop online puppy trade as well as any other sort of animal rights abuse. Our goal is to provide comfortable coexistence for animals and people in as many countries as possible.
